Ann is a postdoctoral researcher working on characterising problematic polypharmacy in older people in general practice under the guidance of Dr. Emma Wallace. Ann graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacy from RCSI in 2006 and following completion of her preregistration training in community pharmacy became a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (MPSI) in 2007. Following many years working in community pharmacy, she completed a BSc (Hons) in Psychology at Ulster University in 2017. Ann was awarded a Vice Chancellor’s Research Scholarship at Ulster University and completed her PhD research in the School of Psychology in 2020. Her PhD thesis, entitled “Patterns of healthcare utilisation in older people: secondary data analysis of service evaluation and epidemiological data”, involved a collaboration with the Medicines Optimisation in Older People (MOOP) team of the Medicines Optimisation Innovation Centre (MOIC).

Ann’s research interests include medicines optimisation, positive ageing, ecological models of health and illness, integrated care, burnout among healthcare professionals, latent variable modelling and longitudinal measurement modelling.
